Retail Travel Series: First Stop, Park City, Utah
A firsthand look at Park City’s retail, dining, and experiential destinations across the city’s key corridors by Capricorn Associate Josie Tummillo.
While Park City’s ski season saw lighter-than-usual snowfall this year, Main Street continues to perform as a high-traffic retail and dining destination. This thriving commercial corridor benefits from steady foot traffic, full patios, and a mix of both locals and tourists. The area demonstrates year-round strength that extends well beyond the slopes, making it a perfect getaway for both winter and summer.
I’m excited to share some of my favorite retail and dining experiences that I enjoyed during my recent visit to this busy retail corridor.
Dining
Five5eeds
My favorite place to start the day was at a unique Australian brunch concept in Snow Creek Plaza, just a short drive from Main Street. Owned by a couple from Melbourne, Five5eeds is not merely inspired by Australia but is a true import of its vibrant coffee scene. The menu focuses on nourishing, flavorful dishes made with organic and locally sourced ingredients. Its “Great Food. Serious Coffee.” philosophy has firmly established Five5eeds as a destination within the broader commercial corridor. It’s also home to one of my favorite lattes I’ve ever had. A must-order starter for the table is the banana bread topped with whipped espresso cream.
Yuki Yama
This popular Japanese restaurant is a Park City favorite that I visit every time I’m in town. Not only is its location considered Main and Main, but it delivers an exceptional dining experience within one of the area’s most active shopping, dining, and entertainment corridors. My go-to order here is the Wagyu Beef Tataki, where you get to personally sear the meat on a hot Himalayan stone. This interactive element aligns well with today’s experience-driven consumer, contributing to the elevated feel of the Main Street retail corridor.
High West Saloon and Distillery
Operating out of a historic 1900s stable, this unique ski-in distillery has an abundance of charm and a thoughtfully curated menu to match. It’s located at the base of Park City Mountain Resort, which allows for easy access for skiers. It's the perfect place to take a break from the slopes with a delicious meal and an expertly paired homemade whiskey.
Retail Standouts
Kemo Sabe
Found at the base of Main Street, Kemo Sabe blends retail with experience, offering Western-inspired luxury accessories in an immersive setting. While browsing their beautiful selection of handcrafted boots, I was thrilled to discover a hidden speakeasy behind the customer-facing mirrors. This unexpected layer creates a unique sip and shop destination. It’s no surprise that this popular stop along Park City’s retail corridor enjoys heavy foot traffic year round.
Gorsuch
A longstanding Main Street staple, Gorsuch is known for its beautifully curated, year-round collections and striking in-store displays. With its blend of alpine tradition and elevated style, browsing here feels like an experience in itself, reinforcing the strength of the surrounding commercial corridor.
Vuori
I was very excited to get to stroll into the new Vuori which opened in August of last year. They fit in perfectly to the existing tenant mix on Main Street. The brand’s clean aesthetic and active lifestyle position them well with both the PC consumer and the broader shift towards wellness-oriented retail.
Experiential / Nightlife
The Marquis
I finally had a chance to visit Main Street’s newest live music venue for its Backcountry Bow, which benefited multiple local organizations, including the Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, United Mountain Workers, and Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association. Among the lineup for the evening were a live music performance by Pixie and the Partygrass Boys and a silent auction. The Marquis is an exciting addition to the town’s growing nightlife scene and reinforces the commercial corridor’s ability to keep visitors engaged beyond traditional retail hours, contributing to a more dynamic, all-day destination.
No Name Saloon
My personal favorite place to grab a drink in Park City is No Name Saloon. The iconic rooftop deck overlooking Main Street is a must-visit after hitting the slopes. It offers a casual, high-energy atmosphere for anyone looking to unwind while taking in the views. Their wings are also phenomenal, and the vibes are incredible all around.
